Birchwood Spa Motel has been owned and operated since July 2005 by Stephen & Jill Parker and family. Originally from the UK, they have travelled widely and lived in NZ since 1991.
Stephen's teaching career has taken them to Hawkes Bay, Western Bay of Plenty and the Horowhenua before they decided to become moteliers and move to Rotorua.
Jill was born in South Wales but then travelled to Algeria, Yugoslavia, Sri Lanka and Portugal as a young girl, which is where she learnt to speak French, Spanish & Portuguese. Stephen's family moved around the Midlands, Essex and the borders of England and Wales while he was growing up.
Their journeys together later in life have taken them to wonderful destinations including Spain, Greece, Turkey, France, Germany, Canada, and North America.
They are very proud to have recently joined the Rotorua Sustainable Tourism Charter, which highlights their dedication to the environment.
