New Zealand has a relatively pleasant climate and it really is an all-seasons destination. If you enjoy snow and winter sports, than June to August is the best time to come to New Zealand. The seasons are exactly opposite from the Northern Hemisphere, so the warmer months of November through to April are best for outdoor exploration.
Summer (December to February) is the best time to discover the Kiwi way of celebrating life as there are numerous of food and wine festivals to visit throughout the country. The beach is never far away and if you enjoy boating, surfing or other water sports, you'd be happy to know that you are spoilt for choice in New Zealand.
Be sure you bring plenty of sunscreen when travelling in New Zealand. The saying here is slip, slop and slap (slip on a shirt, slop on sunscreen, and slap on a hat). The burn time is usually around 10 minutes in the summertime and even with just a mild 20 C you will need good protection on a clear day.
